FAQs
A new custom costume is a huge decision, so you probably have a lot of questions to ask. Please don't hesitate to give us a call as we'd love to answer them in person. In the meantime, you might find a few of these helpful.
FAQs
How long will the process take?
A custom costume typically requires a minimum of six weeks to complete, as each piece is carefully handcrafted to meet the unique vision and needs of the dancer. While we can occasionally accommodate shorter timelines, we strongly encourage dancers to book well in advance to ensure their slot is secured ahead of any upcoming competitions or performances. Early planning allows us to deliver the highest quality without compromise.
Do you allow for costumes to be altered later on?
We always aim to allow room for future alterations, understanding that a dancer’s needs can change over time. While we build flexibility into our designs, there are limits to how much a costume can be adjusted. Any alterations would be reviewed on a case-by-case basis to ensure the integrity and quality of the garment are maintained. We’re happy to discuss options to help you get the best possible fit, both now and in the future.
Does my costume come with accessories
Each solo costume includes kick pants, a number clip, and one coordinating headband.
Boys’ waistcoats come with your choice of either a tie or bowtie, with the option to add matching cuffs for a complete look.
When placing your order, you’ll also have the opportunity to purchase additional accessories such as alternate headbands and dress bags.
Personalised dress bags are available separately through our online store, perfect for keeping your costume protected and travel-ready.
Do you offer an online or in-person measuring service?
All dancers are provided with a comprehensive measuring guide to ensure the best possible fit. For added support, we offer the option to book an online measurement session via Zoom or schedule an in-person consultation with our team. Overseas customers are welcome to submit their measurements using our guide, and we regularly ship internationally with confidence and care.
How many changes can I make to my design before you make it?
We don’t place a limit on design amendments. We’ll work closely with you to ensure you’re completely happy with the design before it moves into production. For a detailed overview, please refer to the Our Process section of our website. Occasionally, if a design isn’t finalised in time to meet our production schedule, we may need to reschedule your fitting date. In cases where a dancer chooses to change direction entirely after the design has been agreed upon, a redesign fee may apply.
What happens at the fitting day
Fitting day starts bright and early, and it’s a truly special part of the costume journey. When you arrive, your costume will still be in pieces with minimal stoning, allowing us to pin it directly onto the dancer for a perfectly tailored fit. As the day unfolds, you’ll see your design gradually come to life with each fitting. There will be plenty of downtime between fittings, and we may even send you off to enjoy some lunch in Brighton. Once the final fitting is complete, we’ll ask you to do your own wig (if applicable), and will offer to do your makeup, however you can do your own if you'd prefer. The day ends with a photoshoot to capture your finished look before you take your beautiful new costume home.
How involved can I be in the design process?
You can be as involved in the design process as you like. Some dancers come with strong ideas, while others prefer to be pleasantly surprised. Our designers thoughtfully consider each dancer’s unique shape and natural tones to create a design that highlights their individual beauty and enhances the overall look. If you have specific ideas, we’re more than happy to collaborate closely with you, while offering expert advice on the fabrics and shapes that work best for Irish dancing costumes to ensure both beauty and functionality.
